How expensive is a course of study? What one-off and recurring fees do I have to take into account? Here you will find information and links to more comprehensive information on study costs at the Universities of Bern.

University of Bern

In general, students are charged a registration fee of CHF 100 and a tuition fee of CHF 750 per semester. Students who register after the regular registration deadline pay an additional CHF 100.

Please note that in addition to these fees, there are also fees for various institutions (social, cultural, sports), the Student Union (SUB) and examination fees.

For doctoral students and foreign students there is a registration fee of CHF 100.- and a tuition fee of CHF 200.- per semester.

Bern University of Applied Sciences

The costs for the course of study consist of tuition and examination fees as well as contributions for teaching materials and excursions, among other things. Fees and contributions vary in part according to the course of study and the department. The departmental secretariats will be happy to provide information on the average costs to be expected.

The additional fees for entrance or aptitude examinations amount to between CHF 150 and CHF 200, depending on the course of study.

In general, a registration fee of CHF 100 is charged per registration. An additional fee of CHF 50.- will be charged for late registrations.

Please note that in addition to the semester fees (CHF 750.-), there are also fees for various institutions (social, cultural, sports), the student association and examination fees.

Depending on their qualifications, lateral entrants to the course of study must take an entrance examination or attend a preparatory course with participation fees. You can find more information on the PHBern website:
